BIG in Holbæk is a new attractive expansion of the established MegaCenter of already just under 90,000 m² shops with a large catchment area. The shops are situated close to the city centre’s high street shops and close to the motorway.
With its present urban area development plan, the MegaCentre can be extended by about 15,000 m² of shops for clearance sale articles.
Today, Holbæk has a position as a regional commercial town with a well-functioning “division of labour” between the MegaCentre and a vibrant city centre – both with each its type and size of shops.
NPV has proposed a total building area of approx. 32,500 m² of new shops. The other areas have been proposed for public-oriented services in the form of fast food, E-sport, play and leisure time activities/fitness and the like.
A shopping concept has been proposed without a covered high street, with direct exterior access to the shops from the approx. 900 parking spaces – in the same way as in the successful BIG Herlev.
The extension is estimated in the proposed size to create approx. 500 new jobs in Holbæk – primarily shop employees.
